This is the seventh in a series of FIPSE conferences, which aim to examine the major open research and educational challenges in Process Systems Engineering.
Why Another International Meeting?
Most conferences and scientific meetings are organized to foster the exchange of research results. Very often, the focus is on presenting the latest results and observing the state of the art in one’s preferred research area. There is too little time to reflect on the direction(s) that a given area has taken over the years, assess the situation objectively, and, in particular, discuss the future needs and the most promising paths to reach these objectives.
Future Innovation in Process System Engineering (FIPSE) aims to provide a framework for researchers to come together and discuss selected topics in some depth, reflect on accomplishments, and postulate future developments. The emphasis will, therefore, be on discussions rather than presentations and on the future rather than the present and the past.
