FIPSE 2 (2014)

FIPSE-2 took place in Aldemar-Knossos Royal five star resort in the island of Crete, in Greece. The resort is located 50 Km east of the Heraklion airport near the small city of Hersonissos. This invitation only conference had participation from 50 leading researchers in PSE worldwide, plus their spouses.

The FIPSE-2 meeting addressed three PSE research topics, two of which are related. There are only six invited speakers who set the framework of the future innovation challenges that need to be addressed. Additional short impromptu presentations by the participants were presented in the second half of the morning session and in the afternoon session. Breakout groups of 5-6 participants defined the unsolved future challenges and reported back to the group.

Discussion on the Unsolved Challenges

This is the most important part of the conference. It included several five minute presentations by conference participants and extensive discussion among all participants. The focus was on defining a set of the most challenging open problems on the topic discussed. In close collaboration with the day’s speakers, three white papers describing these challenges are in the final stages of preparation.
