This is the fourth in a series of FIPSE conferences, which aims to look into the big open research and educational challenges in the area of Process Systems Engineering. FIPSE-4 will take place in June 25-27, 2017 in Chalkidiki, Greece.

Why Another International Meeting?

Most conferences and scientific meetings are organized to foster the exchange of research results. Very often, the focus is on presenting the latest results and observing the state of the art in one's preferred research area. There is too little time to reflect on the direction(s) that a given area has taken over the years, to assess the situation in some objective manner, and in particular to discuss the future needs and the most promising paths to reach these objectives.

Future Innovation in Process System Engineering (FIPSE) aims at providing a framework for researchers to come together and discuss selected topics in some depth, reflect on the accomplishments and postulate future developments. The emphasis will therefore be on discussions rather than presentations and the future rather than the present and the past.

The 2018 conference will be held at the Porto Carras Meliton Resort in Chalkidiki.

Three Day-Long Sessions

  • Water Challenges from the Process Systems Engineering Perspective—Chaired by Professor Michael Doherty, University of California - Santa Barbara
  • Material Discovery and Product Design—Chaired by Professor Christos Maravelias, University of Wisconsin - Madison
  • Model and Process Uncertainty – Quantification and Usage—Chaired by Rolf Findeisen, Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg

Open Invitation for FIPSE-4

The previous FIPSE conferences were by invitation only. FIPSE-4 will be open to all. There is a limit of 50 registrants, so it will be essential to register early.

Pre-Conference Tour

On Sunday, June 24, 2018, there will be an optional cultural excursion to Pella, where the tomb of Philip II—King of Macedon and father of Alexander the Great—was fully discovered in 2006.
